Leaving the city due to an emergency:

Hello Sir, this is to inform you that I will not be coming to work today. This is due to a family emergency, which has prompted me to travel outside the city. Hopefully, I will be back as soon as matters are resolved. Thank you for your kindness and understanding.

 Family emergency:

Greetings, I hope you are doing well. I am sorry to say that there has been an emergency in my  family. Just last night we found out that a very close family member has fallen critically ill. We are all asked to come to see them.

Child’s school emergency:

Dear Sir, I apologize for not coming to work today. This is because I received an emergency phone call from my child’s school, asking me to come in and collect him.

Sick Parent:

Respected Sir, I hope you are doing well. I am sorry to announce that I will be unable to join you at work today. This is because my mother has fallen indescribably ill. While she was unwell for a while now, last night her illness aggravated, and we are currently taking her to the hospital for intensive care. I hope you will understand the difficult position this puts me in and therefore renders me incapable of coming in for work. Thank you so much for your kindness and understanding. Regards,

Own medical emergency:

Greetings, I am incapable of joining you for work today. Last night I was feeling unwell and checked up with the doctor, who has prescribed me to rest and wait for a conclusive report explaining my persistent fever. I will join you as soon as I follow up with my doctor. Thank you.

Car emergency:

Respected Madam, I apologize for not coming in for work today. Just this morning as I was getting ready, my car stopped working. I had to take it to the mechanic and it turns out that I have a failed engine. I believe this leaves me incapable of joining you at work today. Regards,

Car accident:

Good Morning Sir, I hope you are well. I regret to inform you that I am not. Just this morning while I was on my way to work, I became the victim of a harsh car accident. Currently, I am in the hospital for minor injuries. I am not badly hurt but believe that I should rest for the day and sort out these matters before joining you. Thank you.

Sister’s medical emergency:

Dear Ma’am, this is to inform you that I cannot come in for work today. I have been occupied with my sister, and am assisting her with a medical emergency. I hope you understand the position I am in. Thank you.

Power outage emergency:

Dear Sir, this is to inform you that I cannot come in for work today. This is because there has been a drastic power shortage in my society. Due to this our day-to-day activities have come to a halt, and I have been trying to get in touch with the authorities to fix it. I will get back to work as soon as the issue is resolved.

Roads blocked:

Dear Sir, I am sorry to inform you that I cannot make it to work today. Due to a local protest, the roads are blocked, thus keeping me from making it to the office. It has been reported that the protest may get violent, and I believe it unsafe to venture out in these conditions. I will see you as soon as possible. Regards,

Wife’s appointment:

Dear Ma’am, this is to announce that I cannot make it to work today. My wife has been having a difficult pregnancy and is called for hospitalization. I have to help her adjust, and therefore, will be missing work today. I hope you understand and thank you for your kindness.
